#1. You have no goal to your video.
Just creating a video without a purpose is not worth creating. Every video your business creates should have a specific purpose like driving targeted traffic to your website, or to provide helpful information and expertise about a topic for your target audience, or to leverage social proof to convince viewers your business is the best one to call to get the job done right. Don’t start without understanding the goal and purpose of each video you create.
#2. Not optimizing your videos for the search engines.
Why would you create a video and put it on YouTube if you’re not going to properly optimize it so that you can get it in front of the right eyeballs? It is vitally important to get it in front of the right people, especially if you’re looking to use video to help boost targeted video views, website visitors, phone calls and ultimately sales. You need to search engine optimize your videos for your most profitable, desirable keyword phrases.
#3. Not providing real value in your videos.
If your video says “Hey, this is who we are. Here’s our phone number. Give us a call,” you’re not really providing great value to your viewers and you’re not getting them excited about your business. Time to rethink your video marketing plan.
#4. Not having a call-to-action.
If you don’t have a call-to-action in your videos, you’re not telling your viewers what to do next. By not providing a strong, clear, concise call-to-action, your video viewers will likely click away to find another video, so you may as well tell them what to do next and when you direct them to do the next step, be sure to provide them all of the necessary information for them to take the action you’re asking of them.
Telling your video viewer to “call today to schedule an appointment” is great, but if you don’t have the phone number to accompany that call-to-action, then you just missed your opportunity. Along these same lines, if you’re trying to drive traffic back to a specific page on your website, make sure you provide that specific URL (the web address) that you’d like them to go visit next. It’s amazing how many times these small details get overlooked.
#5. No consistency to video creation.
